Are you getting sacked all the time? Are you getting pressured so much that you do not have time to throw? Are you getting pressured so much that you end up having a ton of turnovers?

Well this is a guide to help you neutralize the blitzes and pass rushes so you can have a mean kick ass offensive machine.

Lets Begin!!

TIMED PATTERNS

Number one. The first thing to remember with Offense is that the offense runs on timed patterns and routes. This means that each plays are "TIMED".  If you do not follow the time required for each play, then you are giving the opponent more chance of sacking you.

The "TIMES" are based on QB step backs. So lets say a 3 second timed pattern would be timed with the QB stepping back 3 times for each foot. And you would call it a 3 Step Drop route pattern.

Number two. How can we tell each plays timed patterns?

Each plays in APF2k8 has numerical identifiers that will give you an idea of what "timed pattern" the play is ran in.

For example:

90 X hitch - This is a One step back lob to the Primary Receiver. You have to release the ball quickly or else you are goin to get sacked. It is best used against a Defense that is bringing massive blitz on the LOS against a man to man CB.

Here are the main Time Patterns that you need to know before you can neutralize  defensive pressure.

90 - This is a 3 step back timed pattern. 1 ...2....3.... then Release the ball.

90 Hitch - This is a one step back timed pattern, QB steps back once, then release.

50 - This is a 5 step drop time pattern, It is used for Long deep plays.

FORMATIONS

The best formations to use against blitz and pass rush are:

Pro Set
Pro Shotgun
I Form
I Form Queen
Near
Far

Basically any formation with a HB and FB in the backfield are good against pass rush and blitz.

Pro Set
Pro Shotgun

Pro formations are solid against outside blitzes. They are weak against inside blitzes. If you see someone using the DE a lot and rushing you from the outside then use these formation.

I Form
I Form Queen

I Formations are solid against inside blitzes. If they are using any inside blitzes to get to your QB, then use the I Form to neutralize it.

Near Formation
Far Formation

Near and Far formations are specific formations to counter blitzes on the Weak or Strong side of the formation. Use this formation if your opponent likes to flood his blitzes on weak or strong side.

RUNNING GAME

Another way to neutralize the pass rush is to run the ball at the main pass rusher or run away from him, this well tire out the pass rusher specially if he does not have Stamina ability.

You can create a gameplan of running the first 2 downs, then pass. Once you pass, the pass rusher will have a harder time to get to the QB because his Stamina is lower.

COUNTERS

When you have learned the correct formations and timed patterns against the blitz and pass rush, then you are now ready to counter your opponent using audibles on the LOS.

The main thing to remember is it is best to use your HB and FB as blockers more than setting your TE as a blocker.

Why? Because this will give you much more time to throw the ball. If the Pass rusher gets through the TE, then it's easy sack. But if a pass rusher gets pass the OL, then he still has to go through the FB or HB. Not only will this give you more time, the Pass Rusher loses Stamina as well since he has to go through another player.

Once you learn all these things your team will be a mean offensive machine specially if you have top receivers.
